CPI(M)’s ‘Jan-Akrosh’ rally in Delhi on the back of massive public outcry.

At the call of the CPI(M), the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi was filled with workers, farmers and hardworking people. The opening speech was given by CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby.

Baby said, "Narendra Modi and Amit Shah sometimes say that the days of red flags are over in India. I would say Modi, Shah or Mohan Bhagwat should come and see how the current of red flags is flowing."
The CPI(M) has taken out jatha processions in various states of the country in support of the rally at Ramlila Maidan. The party said it aims to focus especially on the states of North India.

CPI(M) Central Committee member Yusuf Tarigami also addressed the rally today.
Polit Bureau member Arun Kumar presented a special resolution at the rally. The resolution states that the Narendra Modi government should condemn America-Israel for destabilizing the Middle East by forcing war on Iran. The price of cooking gas should be reduced.
Polit Bureau members Ashok Dhawle, Biju Krishnan, Maryam Dhawle also spoke. Editors of states like Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh are also speaking at the rally.

The CPI(M) has been organizing Jan Akrosh Jathas in every state of North India for almost a month. The combined result of those jathas is going to be the Jan Akrosh rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday. The main goal now is to make this rally a complete success. CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby said this at a press conference on Sunday.

Between 27th February and 20th March, 33 public protests were held in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar over a period of 213 days. More than a thousand public meetings were held during this period. In total, more than 1.5 lakh people participated in the protests and rallies. About 35,000 booklets were sold and 10,00,000 leaflets were distributed on the issues of grievance against the Centre. Various cultural organizations also participated in the procession and performed street plays and songs. The plays and songs highlighted the issues that led to the public outrage.

Baby said today that the Jan Akrosh Jatah has been touring North India for 213 days with five demands. The CPI(M) has been vocal against the anti-worker-farmer-anti-people policies of the Modi government since the beginning. The demands on which the Jan Akrosh Jatah and the rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan were based are:

1] The four labour code notifications should be withdrawn; VB Ji Ram Ji should be repealed—which has changed the fundamental character of the Rural Employment Guarantee Act and has undermined the livelihood of rural workers.
2] Instead, MGNREGA should be strengthened;

3] Not amending the Electricity Act, not privatizing the power distribution companies, not withdrawing cross-subsidies and not installing smart meters. This will result in an increase in electricity tariffs across the country; not amending the seed bill. This will take away the farmers' right to develop their own seeds and further strengthen the grip of multinational corporations on the seed market; and
4] Cancel the India-US trade agreement, which is clearly against the interests of the country's farmers, workers and small and medium enterprises.

Referring to the success of the Jan Akrosh Jatara, Baby said that the extreme misery that people are living in due to the anti-people policies of the BJP-led central government has once again become clear during the procession. The impact of the US-Israeli attack on Iran is being clearly seen across the country.
The rise in the prices of cooking gas and fuel, the shortage of gas cylinders, the rise in food prices, as well as the complete or partial closure of hotels, restaurants, schools, colleges and university hostels, are adversely affecting the livelihood of the people. The Ramlila Maidan rally will become the voice of these sufferings, the CPI(M) General Secretary emphatically stated.
Referring to the kitchen of Annapurna Temple in Varanasi being disrupted due to shortage of LPG cylinders, Baby said today that for the first time in its history, the Annapurna Temple, which has been distributing food uninterruptedly for more than three centuries, has been forced to stop its free food service. Notably, the incident took place in the Prime Minister's constituency of Varanasi.

Baby said that people from different parts of North India will be organised to participate in this rally. The rally is scheduled to be held the day after Shaheed Diwas (the day of martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru). CPI(M) leaders will address this rally. They will give a call for action for the coming days.

Party leaders including Baby went to Ramlila Maidan to see the preparations for the rally. After almost 12 years, a rally is going to be held at Ramlila Maidan at the call of the CPI(M).

CPI(M) held a public outcry rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday. CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby addressed the rally. Leaders from several states also participated in the rally.

At the rally, CPI(M) Politburo member Maryam Dhawale said, "Jan Akrosh Yatra, people everywhere are looking for a way to improve their quality of life, to improve the future of their children, and this red flag is showing that way. The Modi government has brought out its anti-women side by increasing the price of cooking gas. The MGNREGA scheme that was introduced in our country used to be done by ordinary girls from poor families." The wages were low in MGNREGA but those women used to get some money but this Modi government wants to destroy that system. As a result, women are being forced to fall into the trap of microfinance. Trapped in the net of this microfinance, the lives of farmers and women are becoming miserable. This is why many of them are being forced to commit suicide. On the other hand, it is seen that the government is also waiving loans worth crores of rupees to capitalists. The trade agreement between the United States and India is actually trying to take away the rights of Indian farmers and workers. Therefore, people across the country are joining the red flag call against it and hoping for a better future.

Why is Modi silent on Trump?: Loud protests at Delhi rally. Yusuf Tarigami is speaking at the Jan Akrosh rally.
US President Donald Trump is violating all the boundaries of humanity. Why is Narendra Modi's government silent?

Jammu and Kashmir MLA Yusuf Tarigami raised this question at a rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Tuesday. The CPI(M) central committee member said that this rally in the heart of Delhi shows the whole world that the struggle of the working people is still alive.

"We have organised this Jan Akrosh Yatra because I want to let the world know that the hardworking farmers and workers are still alive and fighting for their just rights," Tarigami said. "I salute the farmers who forced the government to repeal the three anti-farmer laws. Our fight is not a one-day one. We will continue to fight for our rights. No one can stop this fight," he said.

Tarigami said, "It is not India's history to silently accept this imperialist war. Even though Trump has violated all limits of humanity, the Indian government has not uttered a single word about Trump's aggression in Iran. I am ashamed of this role of a citizen-accountable government. Protests will continue against the policy of becoming loyal to America."
