Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is seen firing at minority Muslims. Such a video was circulated by the social media account of the state committee of the BJP in Assam. CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby strongly protested against such propaganda on Monday.
Baby appealed to the Supreme Court in a video message today to take legal action against Himanta.
Baby said in the video message, "In Assam, the Chief Minister of the BJP-led government, Himanta Biswa Sarma, is actively campaigning against minorities. The things being heard through his statements are against constitutional principles." The Assam BJP is spreading a very dangerous message on social media, which shows Chief Minister Biswa Sharma holding a gun and firing from it. The video shows the sound of gunfire. There are pictures of minority Muslim people being targeted. In fact, minority Muslims are the main target in that video. "Which is also being propagated from the official social media accounts of the BJP. There is a public campaign to destroy the Muslim minority which is against the constitution of our country."
Baby also said, "I will appeal to the Supreme Court to take this incident into consideration and take action against the Chief Minister. Because he has broken the constitutional oath." "Biswa Sharma had to take an oath when he took office as Chief Minister that he would abide by the Constitution of India. But what is being propagated is very naked and anti-minority."
According to Baby, the Muslim minority in Assam are citizens of India. They have been here for many years. But now they are being branded as Bangladeshi infiltrators. They are being targeted for the sake of communal polarization and nepotism. This is what our Prime Minister did when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. This is a terrible act. This is how RSS targets minorities in different parts of the country. On behalf of the CPI(M), I strongly protest against this incident.
It is worth noting that the CPI(M) had strongly protested against Biswa Sharma's campaign on Sunday. The party's central committee, in a post on social media, demanded that the Supreme Court take immediate action against Himanta Biswa Sharma. Public incitement to violence and regular hate speech must stop.
CPI(M) demands that Himanta Biswa Sarma be jailed before a major disaster occurs in Assam.
This is not the first time that Assam's BJP Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been openly spreading hatred against Muslims. Biswa Sarma is not limited to spreading hatred. They are also repeatedly inciting direct violence. This role is especially evident in the extreme controversy surrounding the revision of the voter list.
