The media outlet ‘NewsClick’ made this statement on Thursday in response to a Delhi High Court ruling. On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court ordered the quashing of the FIR filed against founder Prabir Purkayastha and ‘NewsClick’ under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
In its verdict, the court stated that the ED registered this FIR—and conducted investigations and searches based on it—specifically to attack independent and objective journalism.
In a statement, ‘NewsClick’ expressed hope that other cases would also be quashed and that press freedom would be restored.
