People’s protests have started all over the country against crony capitalism and totalitarian misery. That RSS-BJP is not invincible is becoming increasingly clear with the 56-inch bowing of heads in front of the Jantar Mantar protest and a few by-elections. It is possible to defeat this force through massive unity and all-out resistance. For that, we need to reorganize our organization and reach out to more oppressed and distressed people. This was the call made by party general secretary MA Baby while inaugurating the extended session of the CPI(M) West Bengal state committee in Kalyani on Saturday.
MA Baby hoisted the red flag at the beginning of this extended session of the party’s state committee at Sitaram Yechury Nagar and Buddhadeb Bhattacharya Mancha at Kalyani Ritwik Sadan this morning. Inaugurating the session, he mentioned the positive changes in the national situation and said that the unprecedented response to the lawlessness and jail bharao movement across the country on August 10 has reflected the widespread anger of the working class including workers, farmers, agricultural laborers. The government was forced to withdraw anti-farmer laws in the Samyukta Kisan Morcha movement. There are many such examples. The movement of the young generation at Jantar Mantar after the provocative remarks of the Chief Justice also included leftist students and youth. We tried to unite all the secular democratic forces. All sections of society came forward with the support of the new generation, Modi was forced to retreat. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was forced to resign. But the RSS BJP is intensifying the politics of communal hatred and division.
Highlighting the widespread misery in rural life due to the Modi government’s policies, MA Baby said, “Where more than 15 crore labor days were created in REGA in July 2025, it has come down to 7 crore by July this year, by half. This has had an inevitable impact on rural life.” Baby said, “Our responsibility is to stand by these distressed people, to connect with those who have been left out of REGA.”He spoke about the need for party workers to establish new contacts with the urban poor, agricultural workers and working class people, identify their problems and crises and bring them to the forefront of the movement. In this context, he highlighted the significant role of the CPI(M) in launching the Rega.
He mentioned that the people’s verdict went against them as a result of the terrorism and widespread corruption brought by the Trinamool in West Bengal, but as a result, the BJP’s double engine government was formed. After coming to power, the BJP has started the politics of communal division across the country. It is excluding people from various government projects on communal and political grounds.People excluded from the SIR list are not being included in various projects. Minority people are being deprived. He said, in this context, our responsibility has increased further. We have to stand by all these deprived people. The organization has to make preparations accordingly to reach out to the people of this section.
MA Baby strongly criticized the role of the Subhendu Adhikari government in the state, saying that the BJP has been accused of attacking and beating to death the father of Sheikh Abdul Hafeez, a student who participated in the Cockroach Janata Party movement at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, at the Indas house in Bankura. The government has not taken appropriate action against this serious incident.Baby said, “We have to stand by all the people affected by the BJP government’s attack on their democratic rights. People will understand from their life experiences that the red flag is with them till the end. The CPI(M) will take the initiative to unite the people of all sections who are against the BJP RSS and the Left and also against the BJP.”
