Respecting Our Parents: A Lifelong Duty

Parents are the first teachers, protectors, and supporters in our lives. Our father and mother sacrifice their comfort, dreams, and time to give us a better future. They guide us with wisdom, love us unconditionally, and stand by us through every challenge.

Respecting our parents means more than just obeying them—it means showing gratitude, caring for them in their old age, and valuing their words and sacrifices. A simple “thank you,” a warm hug, or spending time with them can mean the world.

Let us always remember: paradise lies at the feet of our mother, and a father’s blessings are the pillars of our success. Honoring them is not just a duty—it is a blessing.

Pankaj Dhar Choudhury, B.A Hons. in English, M.A in English, B.ED. He passed Madhyamik from his native village Kumar Gram Duar of Alipurduar district. He got B.A Hons. in English from Alipurduar College. He completed M.A in English from North Bengal University, Siliguri. He completed B.ED from Maldah Govt. Teachers' Training College. He has been a social media activist since 2006.

কলকাতা মহানগর। পূর্ব বেহালা বিধানসভা ক্ষেত্র। হরিদেবপুর থানা এলাকা। নেতাজী পল্লী। প্রায় ৩৫ বছরের পুরোনো সিপিআইএম পার্টি অফিস। তালা ভেঙ্গে অফিসের আসবাবপত্র নিয়ে চলে যাওয়া হয়েছে। এবং অফিসের বাইরের দেওয়াল সুন্দরভাবে গেরুয়া রং করে বিজেপি, বিজেপি নির্বাচনী প্রতীক পদ্মফুল আঁকা হয়েছে। এবং বিজেপির ঝান্ডা লাগানো হয়েছে। এবং অফিসের ভেতরেও দেওয়ালে বিজেপি লেখা হয়েছে। এই অবস্থায় তালা বন্ধ করে দখল নিয়ে চলে যাওয়া হয়েছে।এবার কলকাতা পুলিশ কোনো ব্যবস্থা নেবেনা। বিজেপির রাজ্য সভাপতি জানাবেন- ‘এই দুষ্কৃতীমূলক কাজ বিজেপি করেনি। কারণ অপরের পার্টি অফিস দখল বিজেপির সংস্কৃতি নয়।’ ব্যস, কাজ শেষ।।

খুকু ও খোকা

— অন্নদাশঙ্কর রায়

তেলের শিশি ভাঙল বলে
খুকুর পরে রাগ করো
তোমরা যে সব বুড়ো খোকা
ভারত ভেঙে ভাগ করো !
তার বেলা?

ভাঙছ প্রদেশ ভাঙছ জেলা
জমিজমা ঘরবাড়ী
পাটের আড়ত্ ধানের গোলা
করখানা আর রেলগাড়ী !
তার বেলা ?

চায়ের বাগান কয়লাখনি
কলেজ থানা আপিস-ঘর
চেয়ার টেবিল দেয়ালঘড়ি
পিয়ন পুলিশ প্রোফেসর !
তার বেলা ?

 যুদ্ধ জাহাজ জঙ্গী মোটর
কামান বিমান অশ্ব উট
ভাগাভগির ভাঙাভাঙির
চলছে যেন হরির-লুট !
তার বেলা ?
