RSS-BJP is working according to the demands of corporates. Again, corporates are pouring funds according to the demands of BJP in the elections. And the workers of the country are the victims of severe exploitation due to the understanding between these two parties. CPI(M) will intensify the struggle against it.
CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby said this in an interview broadcast on Sunday.
To a question, he said, "Education and culture. RSS wants to take complete control of these two fields. This force is trying hard to propagate its fascist ideology and make it acceptable in society." Again, various anti-authoritarian groups and many individuals are involved in the resistance.
Baby said that the CPI(M) wants to work patiently among different sections of the cultural world. It will have to work with those sections that are interested in joining the fight against authoritarianism, communalism and fundamentalism. He talked about working among writers, intellectuals, and artists. Baby said that work must be carried out even if there are differences on other political issues, if necessary.
The issue of introducing the Labour Code and repealing the MGNREGA and introducing a law under a different name came up in the interview. The fight is on in both cases. That fight will continue and intensify, said the CPI(M) General Secretary.
On the question of repealing MGNREGA, he said that it is not just a matter of removing Mahatma Gandhi's name by making a law. In fact, the Narendra Modi government has taken steps to repeal the recognition of providing work according to demand in the MGNREGA Act. He recalled that during the previous Manmohan Singh government, the Left had to wage a massive struggle to achieve the legal right to 100 days of work.
In this context, Baby said, "The RSS-controlled government has removed Mahatma Gandhi's name from the labor law. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mahatma's picture is removed from money in the future."
Baby also raised the issue of attacks on parliamentary processes. He said that the Communist Party had strong differences with Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on many issues. But the space for the opposition to express its views in Parliament was not as narrow as it is today.
Baby said that during his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP, senior journalists used to discuss many past incidents. They used to say that even Nehruji had to leave a room in Parliament to do urgent work. But on his way out, if he saw a communist leader like AK Gopalan or an opposition leader getting up to speak, he would stand up. He would listen to the speech. He would even go back to his seat and speak.
Baby said this democratic culture is being destroyed.
