Medical Council surrenders to communal forces, SFI says about Vaishnodevi College in Jammu and Kashmir

SFI has strongly criticized the National Medical Commission's cancellation of the accreditation of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence College in Jammu and Kashmir. The National Medical Commission has cancelled the approval of this medical college. But this decision was not taken due to problems related to education or teaching. This medical college near Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir has 50 MBBS seats. Among them, 42 students are Muslims by religion. They got the opportunity based on their merit by passing the exam. Various extremist Hindutva organizations raised objections to the Muslim students. The force erupted in jubilation after the approval was revoked.

SFI has demanded the withdrawal of approval. SFI has also demanded the return of the students.

In a statement on Saturday, SFI said that the 42 Kashmiri Muslim students were admitted only after passing the NEET. The cancellation of this approval clearly shows that the National Medical Commission has shamelessly surrendered to communal forces. This surrender is shameful.

SFI said that India is a secular country as per the Constitution. This directive is not in accordance with the Constitution. The BJP-RSS government at the Centre should also clarify the basis on which law the permission was granted to withdraw the approval. The government should also clarify when the affected Kashmiri Muslim students will be able to get admission.
