Parliament was heated from the very start of the 13th day of the Monsoon Session. Opposition MPs staged a protest against Amit Shah within the Parliament complex. They raised their voices against alleged police brutality during student protests in Delhi and the theft of offerings from the Ram Mandir. The Opposition has been continuously protesting to demand a statement from Shah in Parliament. However, the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister have rarely been seen in the House during this Monsoon Session, and the Opposition has raised questions regarding their absence.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said, "This is a democratic country; no authoritarian regime has been established here. Police brutality was unleashed on the NEET protesters—pellet guns were fired, and tear gas shells were lobbed. Such actions could not have taken place without orders from someone. The government must bear responsibility for this. The government must answer whose orders led to these actions."
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that by failing to make a statement in Parliament regarding the theft of Ram Mandir offerings and the police crackdown on students, the Prime Minister and Amit Shah are either acting out of fear or showing disrespect to the House. He demanded that the government be held accountable for both issues in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
It is reported that Congress MP Manickam Tagore has submitted a notice in the Lok Sabha demanding a statement from Amit Shah.
