CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby visited the area committee office which was damaged in the attack by BJP’s miscreants. He was accompanied by CPI(M) Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Bhowdhuri and other leaders. Advocate Nilanjana Roy, the secretary of the concerned area committee, was also present.
To media queries, Baby said, “The BJP in the country and in this state government said that there would be benefits of ‘double engine’. In the last few years, it has been seen that BJP means ‘trouble engine’.” He said, “They did not come just to destroy the party office. They wanted to inflict serious injuries on the party workers. Some were injured.”
Baby also spoke to the injured party workers that day. He said that BJP and its allies are carrying out destructive activities everywhere. They do not accept democracy. They do not accept secularism, they ignore the safety of the people. They create ‘trouble’ everywhere.
Jiten Chowdhury said that the police played the role of silent spectators during the terrible riots. Even then, the police did not take any action. They did not arrest the culprit. They also prevented blood donation camps from being held on Independence Day. They not only vandalized the offices of political parties, but also set them on fire.
Baby said that BJP is a force that attacks by ‘targeting’ a section. Not only Muslims. Their targets are Dalits and tribals as well. On the other hand, they attack people’s livelihood. The biggest problem in Tripura now is the electricity bill. The electricity bill has increased by up to 300 percent. They attack only when there is democratic protest.
