The ‘INDIA’ alliance has decided to launch a nationwide movement to safeguard the idea of India. This struggle to protect the essence of the Constitution will continue; that is why this meeting is of great importance.
CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby made these remarks following the ‘INDIA’ alliance meeting on Wednesday.
The ‘INDIA’ alliance held a meeting amidst a highly unusual political situation. Serious irregularities in the Election Commission’s proceedings have come to light.
It was decided at the meeting that parties belonging to the ‘INDIA’ bloc would march to the Election Commission’s office next Tuesday, October 6.
It is worth noting that last Friday, September 25, Baby had sent letters to the leaders of all relevant political parties regarding the ‘INDIA’ bloc meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Baby stated that in the absence of a consensus within the Election Commission, decisions are supposed to be made based on a majority view. Yet, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar proceeded with a unilateral decision, disregarding the objections raised by the two other Election Commissioners.
Baby states that the real danger lies in the fact that, while holding the office of Chief Election Commissioner, he made decisions aligning with the fascist agenda of the RSS-BJP government at the Centre. Had Gyanesh Kumar possessed any self-respect, he would have resigned from the post.
It has been decided at the ‘INDIA’ bloc meeting to launch widespread movements in every area across the country. Baby stated that the Leftists have emphasized the need to reach out to various social organizations, different sections of civil society, and intellectuals. He added that connections must also be established with political forces that are not part of the ‘INDIA’ bloc.
