“The BJP must be isolated from the people, their mask must be unmasked, they must be defeated,” said CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby at a public meeting on the occasion of the extended session of the CPI(M) West Bengal State Committee in Kalyani.The session lasted for two days, Saturday and Sunday. There was a public rally on that day. This program was carried out with the cooperation of the people of Kalyani, ignoring many obstacles from the BJP and the administration.
Baby said at the rally, “We know that this government, which protects the bigwigs, has put the lives of the common people in danger. They are spreading communal poison. They are creating division among the people. This Prime Minister became the Chief Minister by causing riots in Gujarat. We have to be united to confront the fascist RSS. Religion is a personal matter of the people. RSS is creating communal violence. Our first political task is to remove this communal party from the government.”The last Lok Sabha elections showed that Modi and BJP’s popularity is at its lowest in the country. The government has relied on two parties. However, the student movement in the country has shown that they are not in a good place. Dharmendra Pradhan was forced to resign due to the pressure of the student movement. We supported that movement every day. A six-year-old child in Bihar has shown that a six-year-old child can stand up to these 56 engineers.
Baby said, “Bengal played an important role in the freedom movement. Since the role of the leftists in the freedom movement of Bengal, the people of the region have been supporting the red flag. Our party and organization are creating new ground.”We have received a noteworthy response in the campaign for the assembly elections. Many representatives of the new generation have become candidates. Many representatives of the new generation are emerging in Bengal, it can be said that the state Left movement will move forward with new enthusiasm.
Targeting the Trinamool, the CPI(M) general secretary said, “Mamata has entered politics at the expense of the BJP. Mamata was a minister in the Vajpayee government. Trinamool has broken down. A new political situation has emerged in the state. This meeting would not have been possible without the support of the people of Kalyani. There will be an appeal to the people to stay with the red flag to save Bengal.”
Regarding the incident of RSS BJP attack on the family of a student in Bankura, he said, “Abdul Hafiz participated in the student movement at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. He started uniting people to demand improvement in infrastructure in government schools. He and his family members were attacked by BJP RSS goons.”They took the life of Hafiz’s father, Mafis. I am protesting that incident from this meeting. Hafiz wanted to build the infrastructure of the village school. The government did not listen to him.
The CPI(M) General Secretary said, “The state and the country are going through a difficult political situation. For the first time in the state, a communal force called RSS has come to power. They have declared direct war on the people. A fascist government is running at the Centre. We want to say not a double engine government but a triple engine government. Many times it has been seen that their engine has turned into a bulldozer.”In the state, the government of Subhendu Adhikari has brought down bulldozers on the livelihood of the poor people. The same policy is in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP government is very good for the Adani Ambanis and is sympathetic to them. Their love for the rich, for the poor working people, the engine is actually a bulldozer.
Referring to Subhash Chandra, he said, “Subhash Chandra Ji is the owner. His debt of 22 thousand crore rupees has been reduced to just 6 crore rupees by the Narendra Modi government through understanding. This incident proves that our words are not wrong. Similarly, we know that if common people, farmers, take any loan, they have to pay interest.It increases further with compound interest. If you cannot pay, the property is taken away. Many people are committing suicide because they are unable to repay the loan. The government is not doing anything for this class of people. They are protecting the interests of the big people. They are allowed to waive crores of rupees.
He said, “The unemployment rate in the country is increasing. The unemployment rate is highest among those aged 18-29. No recruitment is being done. Government posts are vacant. The government is not recruiting.”
Regarding the 100 days of work, Baby said, “In 2004, we supported the UPA from outside, we ensured that the government would be pro-people. The Rega project was launched at that time. That name has been changed. Gandhi’s name has been removed. Jiramji has been launched from July 1.”If we compare it with the previous project, we can see that last year 15 crore people were employed, this time the number has come down to 7 crore. In this way, the double-engine government is taking away the livelihood of the people. In fact, this government is a government that kills the poor.
Baby said, “This government was forced to bow to the farmers’ movement. The farmers of the country protested for more than a year. More than seven hundred farmers were martyred. Hannan Mollah, Ashok Dhawale, Biju Krishnan were associated with that movement.”
He said, “During this period, BJP has lost in the Bankipur by-election. Where they have been winning for 30 years. They have lost in the seat vacated by Nitin Naveen. All these incidents prove that it is possible to defeat BJP. We have to confront the communal politics of RSS in a restrained and conscious manner.”
Today’s rally is being presided over by Meghlal Sheikh, district secretary of Nadia district CPI(M). He said, “The extended meeting of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was announced two months ago. We had said that day that we want to hold a public meeting in Kalyani. Hence this meeting.We want to tell the people what was discussed between us. If these two parties, Trinamool and BJP, had not come to power, it would not have been possible to understand what the government is doing. Both parties have attacked the opposition after coming to power. They have no say in the suffering of the people.Before coming to power, they promised a double engine. In a hundred days, it is clear that this government is not a government for the poor. They have brought double danger. We have to protect the people from this danger. The focus of the Left Front government was on how to improve the poor and working class.
