Acceding to the demands of students and the youth, Dharmendra Pradhan must be removed from the post of Union Education Minister. The testing agency, NTA, must be scrapped. Everyone currently in detention must be released.
The CPI(M) Politburo has raised this demand while strongly condemning the police lathi-charge during Monday’s ‘March to Parliament’ programme. The CPI(M) stated that the central government would do well to realize that public frustration and anger regarding government policies cannot be suppressed through repression—certainly not among the youth. The Politburo’s statement noted that the massive success of the ‘March to Parliament’—called by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’—has delivered a fitting response to the authoritarian Modi government.
The Politburo has stated that the hunger strike at Jantar Mantar and the police crackdown on Monday have intensified protests across the country. The government, responsible for the utter mismanagement of the education sector and rampant unemployment, has refused to engage in dialogue with the protesters.
The Politburo has strongly condemned the unbridled lathi-charge. The statement notes that many students, youths, and others have been injured, with some sustaining serious injuries. The police carried out this violent attack under the directives of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Similar scenes of lathi-charging were also witnessed recently in front of the CPI(M) Central Committee office.
The Politburo stated that the public—and students in particular—have gathered in massive numbers for the ‘Sansad Chalo’ (March to Parliament) programme. The Modi government has remained unwilling to address demands for action regarding the question paper leak and the scrapping of the central agency, the NTA. Despite the agitation continuing for over a month, the government has refused to heed these demands. Today witnessed massive participation in the protest against this stance, reflecting solidarity and support from all sections of society.

এতদিনের প্রতিবাদ কর্মসূচির পর কথা বলতে হলো নরেন্দ্র মোদী সরকারকে। সোমবার কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী জেপি নাড্ডার সঙ্গে দেখা করে করে নিজেদের দাবি পেশ করলেন সিজেপির দুই মুখপাত্র আশুতোষ রানকা ও সৌরভ দাস। এরপরই, এদিন সন্ধ্যায় দিল্লির হরকিষাণ সিং সুরজিৎ ভবনে সিপিআই(এম) সাধারণ সম্পাদক এমএ বেবি, প্রবীণ সিপিআই(এম) নেত্রী বৃন্দা কারাত সহ নেতৃবৃন্দের উপস্থিতিতে অনশন ভাঙলেন এসএফআই সর্বভারতীয় সভাপতি আদর্শ এম সাজি ও যুগ্ম সম্পাদক ঐশী ঘোষ। দেশের শিক্ষাকে বাঁচানোর এই লড়াইয়ে গোড়া থেকে জুড়ে ছিল এসএফআই, ডিওয়াইএফআই’র মতো সংগঠন।
রবিবার রাত থেকেই আন্দোলনকারীদের উপর আক্রমণ নামিয়ে আনার জন্য প্রস্তুত ছিল দিল্লি পুলিশ। সকালে সংসদ চলো অভিযান শুরু হওয়ার পরেই আন্দোলনকারীদের উপর ব্যাপক আক্রমণ মানিয়ে আনে পুলিশ। সংসদ ভবন যাওয়ার বিভিন্ন রাস্তায় প্রতিবাদীদের উপর লাঠি চালায় পুলিশ। টিয়ার গ্যাস ছুড়েও আন্দোলনকারীদের প্রতিহত করার চেষ্টা করে পুলিশ। এমনকি নৃশংসতার মাত্রা এতটাই ছিল যে প্রতিবাদীরা যাতে সামান্য জল ও না পান তারজন্য, রাস্তার ধরে থাকা জলের দোকানগুলিকেও বন্ধ করে দেওয়ার নির্দেশ দেয় পুলিশ। এতো কিছুতেও প্রতিবাদীদের দমানো যায়নি। খানিক বাধ্য হয়েই এদিন বিকেলে কেন্দ্রীয় মন্ত্রী জেপি নাড্ডা সিজেপি’র দুই মুখপাত্রের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেন।
সিজেপি’র মূল দাবি ছিল সোনাম ওয়াংচুককে ছেড়ে দিতে হবে, ধর্মেন্দ্র প্রধানের পদত্যাগ, নিট পরীক্ষার্থী যাঁরা আত্মহত্যা করেছিলেন তাঁদের পরিবারকে এক কোটি টাকা ক্ষতিপূরণ।
বৈঠক শেষে, সৌরভ দাস তার এক্স-এ একটি পোস্টের মাধ্যমে জানান, ” আমি ও আশুতোষ সবার প্রতিনিধির হিসেবে জেপি নাড্ডার সঙ্গে দেখা করে আমাদের মূল দাবি ওঁর কাছে পেশ করেছি। আজ সকালে সরকার আমাদের সঙ্গে সমঝোতা করার জন্য যোগাযোগ করেছিল।”
সিজেপি’র প্রতিনিধিরা আরও জানান, “আমরা প্রশাসনকে একটি লিখিত পত্র দিয়েছি। নাড্ডাজী আমাদের ভরসা দিয়ে বলেছেন তিনি এই বিষয়টি খতিয়ে দেখবেন। আমরা এই প্রক্রিয়ায় মধ্যে দিয়া যাচ্ছি।”
এদিন প্রায় ২ ঘন্টা অপেক্ষা করার পর ১০ মিনিটের জন্য নাড্ডার সঙ্গে দেখা করার সুযোগ পান তাঁরা। তবে সরকারের তরফ থেকে এখনও কোন বিবৃতি প্রকাশ করা হয়নি এই বৈঠক নিয়ে বা তারা এই দাবিগুলি মেনে নেবে কিনা স্পষ্ট নয়।
তবে আন্দোলনের সঙ্গে জুড়ে থাকা সব অংশই জানিয়েছে যে শিক্ষাকে বাঁচানোর লড়াই জারি থাকবে।
