Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is just the first step; the testing agency, NTA, must now be scrapped. CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby stated this while extending sincere congratulations to the protesting students.
Baby demanded the withdrawal of all cases filed against the protesters. He also called for the scrapping of the new National Education Policy, which he described as being formulated with a communal outlook. He asserted that the National Education Policy 2020 is encouraging the commercialization of education in the country.
Baby has extended congratulations to Abhijit Deep—head of the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’—and social activist Sonam Wangchuk. She has also congratulated student organizations like the SFI that fight with steadfast determination.
Baby remarked that this experience has taught us that demands can be met and battles won only through the path of struggle.
In a social media post, Baby noted that achievers from various sectors of society—ranging from sports and cinema to the cultural sphere—have stood in solidarity with this movement. This support is highly encouraging for the cause; unity in the struggle paves the way for victory.
Baby stated that the agitation will continue with demands for scrapping the NTA and the National Education Policy, as well as withdrawing the cases filed against the protesters.
